Hidup oleh Roh
8:1 Demikianlah sekarang tidak ada penghukuman bagi mereka yang ada di dalam Kristus Yesus.
8:2 Roh, yang memberi hidup telah memerdekakan kamu dalam Kristus dari hukum dosa dan hukum maut.
8:3 Sebab apa yang tidak mungkin dilakukan hukum Taurat karena tak berdaya oleh daging, telah dilakukan oleh Allah. Dengan jalan mengutus Anak-Nya sendiri dalam daging, yang serupa dengan daging yang dikuasai dosa karena dosa, Ia telah menjatuhkan hukuman atas dosa di dalam daging,
8:4 supaya tuntutan hukum Taurat digenapi di dalam kita, yang tidak hidup menurut daging, tetapi menurut Roh.
8:5 Sebab mereka yang hidup menurut daging, memikirkan hal-hal yang dari daging; mereka yang hidup menurut Roh, memikirkan hal-hal yang dari Roh.
8:6 Karena keinginan daging adalah maut, tetapi keinginan Roh adalah hidup dan damai sejahtera.
8:7 Sebab keinginan daging adalah perseteruan terhadap Allah, karena ia tidak takluk kepada hukum Allah; hal ini memang tidak mungkin baginya.
8:8 Mereka yang hidup dalam daging, tidak mungkin berkenan kepada Allah.
8:9 Tetapi kamu tidak hidup dalam daging, melainkan dalam Roh, jika memang Roh Allah diam di dalam kamu. Tetapi jika orang tidak memiliki Roh Kristus, ia bukan milik Kristus.
8:10 Tetapi jika Kristus ada di dalam kamu, maka tubuh memang mati karena dosa, tetapi roh adalah kehidupan oleh karena kebenaran.
8:11 Dan jika Roh Dia, yang telah membangkitkan Yesus dari antara orang mati, diam di dalam kamu, maka Ia, yang telah membangkitkan Kristus Yesus dari antara orang mati, akan menghidupkan juga tubuhmu yang fana itu oleh Roh-Nya, yang diam di dalam kamu.
8:12 Jadi, saudara-saudara, kita adalah orang berhutang, tetapi bukan kepada daging, supaya hidup menurut daging.
8:13 Sebab, jika kamu hidup menurut daging, kamu akan mati; tetapi jika oleh Roh kamu mematikan perbuatan-perbuatan tubuhmu, kamu akan hidup.
8:14 Semua orang, yang dipimpin Roh Allah, adalah anak Allah.
8:15 Sebab kamu tidak menerima roh perbudakan yang membuat kamu menjadi takut lagi, tetapi kamu telah menerima Roh yang menjadikan kamu anak Allah. Oleh Roh itu kita berseru: "ya Abba, ya Bapa!"
8:16 Roh itu bersaksi bersama-sama dengan roh kita, bahwa kita adalah anak-anak Allah.
8:17 Dan jika kita adalah anak, maka kita juga adalah ahli waris, maksudnya orang-orang yang berhak menerima janji-janji Allah, yang akan menerimanya bersama-sama dengan Kristus, yaitu jika kita menderita bersama-sama dengan Dia, supaya kita juga dipermuliakan bersama-sama dengan Dia.

The Believer’s Relationship to the Holy Spirit
8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
8:2 For the law of the life-giving Spirit in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.
8:3 For God achieved what the law could not do because it was weakened through the flesh. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,
8:4 so that the righteous requirement of the law may be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
8:5 For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped by the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit.
8:6 For the outlook of the flesh is death, but the outlook of the Spirit is life and peace,
8:7 because the outlook of the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to the law of God, nor is it able to do so.
8:8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
8:9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him.
8:10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is your life because of righteousness.
8:11 Moreover if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive through his Spirit who lives in you.
8:12 So then, brothers and sisters, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh
8:13 (for if you live according to the flesh, you will die), but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live.
8:14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.
8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery leading again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba, Father.”
8:16 The Spirit himself bears witness to our spirit that we are God’s children.
8:17 And if children, then heirs (namely, heirs of God and also fellow heirs with Christ) – if indeed we suffer with him so we may also be glorified with him.
